It's my birthday.March 10th.I
am 60 today.Happy Birthday to me.

Hello and welcome to another

by our sweet friend Ms Diane @

Today,I have done a no-no. I have

looked on Rate My Space,in my

pictures files. I guess I didn't take

a picture of this one was

clean,it was just the typical gold

yucky boring color.Nothing wrong

with gold. But where I was putting

it.Nope! So just for today if you will,

just imagine this gold with no crystals,

or beubeches, or cord cover, just gold.

okay? I paid $15.00 for this. I had the

crystals from another chandy. I bought

the beubeches from ebay.I made the

cord cover with .50 worth of fabric.I

cannot remember what the beubeches

cost, but probably $10.00 or so. This

wasn't quite the deal as the red one,

Because I got this one at my "favorite"

thrift store and it is a little pricey, but

worth it.So this little beauty set me

back around $25.00 bucks.I think

well done, myself. This is in a bedroom

so it's about as flashy as it needs to be.

Don't you think?

And here we are now with my chair

make-overs.There was nothing wrong

with the chairs, just stained and the stain

on the wood needed to be touched up.So

I did.I touched up the stain.Pooey,did that

stuff smell.UGH.........

Then I recovered the chairs.I can do it,if it's

with a stapler or a needle.I just cannot for the

life of me do what the pros do.YIKES!!!!

Then of course I trimmed out my work. The

material came from Wallyworld,so it wasn't

much.I got bolt of this trim for $3.00 at my

favorite thrift store. And you'd be surprised

what all I have used it for.Everything, but

tying up my hubby,ha....

By the way,I happened to make the little

pillows too.I had saved my mother-in law

dress from my son's wedding for 13 yrs .The

moths had gotten to it.I said well,at least this

way,we can still enjoy it.I made several little

pillows. Now hows THAT for a SECOND TIME

AROUND TOO?I got a freebie there.haha.

This shows the fabric up close.Yes

my living room is pink. But the secondary

color is this soft brown. And it's almost like velvet.really soft and plush, yet strong.

And this shows my trim.Need some?I own a bolt of it.

This is what they looked like before.See the stains?
My other house used to be blue-everything blue.
We had changed out over half before we decided to
get a bigger house.Isn't that the way everybody does it?

The old and the new.

The end..........................

Oh the chandy and the chairs are both fabulous. Great job. You do have to have a lot of talent to upholster, and that's not my thing. You did a wonderful job. Great way to use the lace from the dress also. The chandy is just beautiful with all the baubles and finishes. Love it. Hugs, Marty

Happy birthday! Mary (MeGarden) sent me! I turned 60 last year. We babyboomers need to stick together! ;)

I recovered a couple chairs that are the same style as yours and included a tutorial on my blog (it was a few months back). The first one went together pretty easily; the second one was a bit of a bear. Yours looks really good and I LOVE the little pillow you put with it.

I've heard of making quilts out of T-shirts but never would have thought to make pillows from old dresses. Great idea.

And I love this! Girl, you did a great job on that chair! How did you do that??? WOW! And I like the chandy, too! And I actually cut up a silk skirt that I never wear but LOVE the fabric and played with making it into a pillow or possible to cover a footstool we don't use for that purpose. I love to repurpose things. :-)

Happy B-Day and 2nd Time Around Tuesday!

I am totally in love with that chandy. I am looking for one for my bedroom...haven't found it yet but I will..
I so wish I could upholster..I have 2 club chairs and an ottoman that are gonna have to be thrown away if I can't come up with some way to cover them. Can't afford new chairs and can't afford to have them covered professionally. Not a big fan of slipcovers but maybe...
You did great on all of these!!Ok, I will tell about my red hutch NEXT Tuesday....:O)

Hi Ann, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I just had to shout it out. I hope you are having the best birthday possible.

The bottles don't have any meaning. I went to see my sister and there they were looking silly to me. Her better Half thought they looked festive against the winter brown everything. He has a good sense of humor and did it to be funny. He calls it yard art. However, it is using something for a second time around. I posted it because I was amused by what he did.

Your chair looks very nice and your pillow too. It is fun to makeover something. You made me think of a dress I wore to my son's wedding and I gave it to a thrift store. It cost a fortune and the fabric was the most beautiful stuff. What lovely pillows the fabric would have made. I wasn't being very clever like you are.

Have a happy birthday Ann.

Wow, I love the re-upholstering job. And I'm all about the St. Patrick's day tablescapes. My tablescape has been the same for about five years. That's really sad. I guess I just use my creativity in other ways around the house. Oh, and happy birthday.
